Legendary experimental artist Björk has been getting Grammy nominations for 26 years, but hasn’t yet won. Her first nomination was in 1993 for Best Music Video-Short Form for “Human Behavior,” followed by several more nominations between 1995 and 2018, primarily for Best Alternative Music Album. All told, she has received 15 nominations over the years, none of which has netted her an award.

It may be called “taking home Oscar gold,” but the truth is, Oscar is as dressed up as the stars. The solid bronze statue is dipped in 24-karat gold and weighs 8.5 pounds. Oscar wasn’t always as solid as a rock; in World War II, stars were given plaster statues due to a metal shortage. They were able to trade the plaster in for the (bronze) gold after the war.

“Saturday Night Live” has won the most Emmys of any television show in history, amassing 81 wins (and 306 nominations) over the show’s 47-year history. In addition to acting trophies handed out to regular cast members including Kate McKinnon and Gilda Radner, celebrity hosts such as Dave Chappelle, Justin Timberlake, and Melissa McCarthy have taken home honors for their guest stints on the program. Executive producer Lorne Michaels has won 13 statues.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association is responsible for holding the annual Golden Globes ceremony, starting with the first event in 1944, an informal affair at the 20th Century Fox studios in Los Angeles. The nonprofit organization was founded in the 1940s by a group of journalists who wanted to cover the world of entertainment.

Ella Fitzgerald became the first African American woman to be awarded a Grammy when she won for Best Vocal Performance, Female, and Best Jazz Vocal Performance, Individual, in 1958. Known as the First Lady of Song, Fitzgerald debuted at the Apollo Theater in 1934, where she competed in an amateur contest and was discovered by record executives. She went on to win 13 Grammys and sell over 40 million albums.

The award was created in 2018 and was first awarded in 2019 to none other than Carol Burnett. In its brief history, other winners include Ellen DeGeneres and Norman Lear.

The late Betty White is truly an acting legend — especially on the small screen. Often referred to as the "First Lady of Television," White was nominated for an impressive 21 Emmys across six decades. White's first nomination came in 1951 for Best Actress, and the last was in 2010 for her guest role on "Saturday Night Live." It's no wonder she also received a lifetime achievement award from television's biggest award show.

The man behind the House of Mouse, Walt Disney, has earned the most Academy Awards of any person, across a range of categories. When Disney’s animation studios first opened, they were light-years ahead of the industry, giving him the opportunity to rack up 26 Oscar wins, with 59 nominations.

“South Pacific” has won 17 Tonys in total for both of its productions. The original 1949 version won 10 on its own, and the 2008 Broadway revival earned seven more. Overall, Rodgers and Hammerstein’s work earned the legendary duo 42 Tonys, plus several other accolades, including 15 Academy Awards and two each of the Pulitzer Prize, Emmy, and Grammy awards.

No TV actor has won more Golden Globes in competitive acting categories than Alan Alda, who won six times between 1974 and 1982 for his role on “M*A*S*H.” Behind him are Carol Burnett and Ed Asner, with five awards each.

The Celine Dion song "My Heart Will Go On" became one of the bestselling singles of all time after it appeared as the main theme to James Cameron's movie "Titanic.” It also won Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Record of the Year at the 1998 Grammys, making Celine Dion the first ever Canadian to win the latter award. All hail Queen Meryl. The three-time Oscar winner has been nominated an astonishing 21 times — that’s nine more nominations than runners-up Katharine Hepburn and Jack Nicholson, each of whom has captured 12 nominations. Hepburn has one up on Streep, though; she’s the most decorated actor ever, with four wins.

On February 14, 1962, an estimated 80 million viewers tuned in to CBS to watch “A Tour of the White House With Mrs. John F. Kennedy” for a rare glimpse inside the most famous home in America. Thanks to the program’s immense popularity, Jackie Kennedy was awarded an honorary Emmy at that year’s ceremony. To this day, she is the only First Lady of the United States to win an Emmy.
